Research: Exercise can stop people developing breast cancer

Experts believe that people can reduce the chances of developing breast cancer by undertaking plenty of exercise.

According to the London-based World Cancer Research Fund, even moderate activities, such as brisk walking, can reduce the risk of getting cancer

It stated that some 5,500 women would not get breast cancer if they were active for at least 45 minutes each day, while there would also be an estimated 4,600 fewer cases of bowel cancer.

Dr Rachel Thompson, deputy head of science at the foundation, said: "There is very strong evidence that being physically active is important for cancer prevention. You can reduce your cancer risk just by making small changes and this is highlighted by the fact that so many cancer cases could be prevented through something as simple as brisk walking."

Earlier this month, research conducted at the Taipei Medical University uncovered a link between nicotine and breast cancer, with experts stating that the addictive substance could trigger tumour growth.ADNFCR-2528-ID-800045586-ADNFCR
