Tailor exercise regimes to the weather

People undertaking exercise regimes to lose weight or achieve personal goals should ensure they tailor them to account for the weather.

The advice comes from Dr Christian Jessen, a presenter on British TV show Embarrassing Bodies, who said that exercise programmes need to be flexible to accommodate the changeable weather.

"If it's really baking hot outside, obviously don't go for a run in the hot street – that's going to make you feel awful. Why not go for a swim? It's an easier thing to do when the weather's hot. You have to choose your exercise according to the weather," he said.

According to recent research from the Medical Research Council, UK, people who are genetically predisposed to obesity can mitigate the impact of those genes by adopting an active lifestyle.

A study published in the Environmental Science And Technology Journal suggested that exercising outdoors is better for physical and mental wellbeing than going to the gym.ADNFCR-2528-ID-800050635-ADNFCR
